Freshwater Bioresources Research Division is trying to secure various biological resources through extensive research•discovery research of biological resources(animals and plants, protists, fungi, prokaroyes) that live in freshwater environment.Establishment of biological sovereignty has emerges as an important priority due to the Nagoya Protocal announcement, and accordingly Freshwater Bioresources Research Division is investigation various biological resources and conducting research. In addition, since there are many high value-added biological resources for practical use among freshwater bioresources, we can expect to create high economic value through research.Microorganisms are widely used as a core material for the development of bioengeenering products such as antibiotics, anticancer agents, food additives, environmental cleaning agents since they produce various physiological active substances and have the ability of decomposing various materials. Animals and plants in the nearest human life provide various eclological and cultural services in which human beings can enjoy, such as companion, gardening, processing, education, food; therefore, they have a high utilization value. Freshwater Bioresources Research Division trys to contribute to providing materials that can be used industrially by studying freshwater organisms with various utilization value.
